Project Description

This project involved the demolition of the existing Sheet Harbour Consolidated Elementary School, including full hazardous material abatement, followed by the construction of a new 65,000 sq. ft. P–12 school with associated parking and landscaped areas. The new school features technical production areas, science laboratories, a gymnasium, full-service cafeteria, collaborative common spaces, pre-primary classroom, music practice rooms, classrooms, and administrative support areas designed to support a modern and engaging learning environment.

The project also included the deconstruction of Duncan MacMillan High School, including the removal of all regulated and hazardous materials, and the construction of a new sports field to serve the new P–12 facility.

Under a separate scope of work, our team managed the abatement and deconstruction phase, which included installation of temporary power to maintain the operation of the existing sewage treatment facility, protection of nearby wetlands, and video documentation of underground services that were to remain in place post-deconstruction.

Project Highlights

  • Successfully delivered the regulated materials abatement and deconstruction scope safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Ensured environmental protection measures were implemented, including safeguarding wetlands and preserving on-site infrastructure.
  • Coordinated effectively with multiple stakeholders to support the transition to the new P–12 school development.
