Project Description
This project involved the renovation of HI Halifax, a building with Heritage Status, to upgrade guest rooms and public spaces while preserving the building’s historical character. The scope included costing services and project budget preparation, along with coordination of major upgrades to enhance functionality, compliance, and guest satisfaction.
Key components of the project scope included:
- Building envelope repairs to stop water infiltration and ensure long-term durability.
- Code and life safety compliance corrections, ensuring the building met regulatory requirements.
- Upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Exterior upgrades, including the installation of a rooftop patio to enhance guest experience.
- Renovations to increase the number of private guestrooms with private washrooms.
- Upgrades to all guest bedrooms, bathrooms, and common spaces to enhance comfort and aesthetic appeal.
As Project Manager, responsibilities included resource management, preparation of detailed project budgets, liaison with the client, trades, and heritage authorities, and oversight of schedule, budget, and communications to ensure successful project delivery.
