Project Description:
This project involved the full lifecycle oversight of a complex interior renovation at the IWK Health Centre, a major pediatric hospital and trauma centre in Halifax. The scope of work included planning, design, construction, and project close-out for renovations to high-use hospital spaces, requiring careful coordination to ensure patient care and hospital operations were uninterrupted.
The renovations included:
- Demolition and reconstruction of two separate waiting rooms.
- Renovation of administration areas to improve workflow and functionality.
- Upgrades to a washroom area to meet accessibility standards while adjacent spaces remained in full operation.
- Project responsibilities included establishing and monitoring project progress, budget, and schedule, coordinating design and construction activities, managing furniture and equipment tendering, and overseeing internal moves and swing space requirements. The role also involved change order management and facilitating the construction close-out process.
